One area of its function is Enforcement and Vehicle Standards. Vehicle Standards and the systems for vehicle testing play a vital role in making our roads safer. While road collisions are often caused by driver error, vehicle defects can also be the main contributory factor or worsen outcomes of collisions as a secondary contributory factor. The RSA also plays a role in regulating and enforcing compliance of heavy commercial vehicles, and their drivers by monitoring driver’s hours. This has been a significant contribution to safety on our roads. A broader benefit of this enforcement and compliance activity is helping to level the competitive playing field for compliant commercial operators. The aim of this activity is to ensure that Ireland’s vehicle standards are in line with best practice and that commercial vehicle operators and drivers meet their obligations to use and operate commercial vehicles safely. |

We feature the people behind the wheel and those who put the trucks on the road. They have fantastic stories to tell. The magazine is full of features, interviews and news on all aspects of Irish Haulage. We put a human face on the story and because of that Irish Trucker & Light Commercials has developed a loyal readership. |
