Seamus Kavanagh

Since joining the IIFA in 2008, Seamus has developed the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding (a 10-month training course covering the corner stones of the Freight Forwarding industry), from a classroom set-up to a fully online training program. Responsible for the continued development of the programme, Seamus has brought the internationally recognised training programme through re-validation with FIATA on three separate occasions, most recently in November of 2021.

A key part of the Association’s BREXIT planning group, Seamus was part of the Team that delivered the Clear Customs Training initiative, helping Irish businesses to prepare for BREXIT. He also updates and continues to deliver IIFA’s practical Customs Declaration completion programme.

Seamus represents the Association through participation with National and International Industry Groups. Nationally, these include the Revenue Customs Consultative Committee, the DTTAS Logistics and Supply-Chain Skills Group and more. Internationally, such Groups include representing the Irish Freight industry with FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, and CLECAT, the European Association for Freight Forwarders and Customs Clearance Brokers.

In October 2013, Seamus was part of a 2 Person Delegation to attend the FIATA World Congress (the largest Global gathering of Freight, Logistics and Transport industries) in Singapore. At that event Seamus successfully campaigned to have Dublin selected as the host city for the 2016 FIATA World Congress. Seamus then played a key role in planning the FIATA World Congress which took place in October 2016 in the Convention Centre, Dublin with over 700 International Delegates in attendance.
