Declan Allen, Head of Logistics, Supply Chain and Project Management at Technological University Dublin, has been appointed Judging Coordinator for the Irish Logistics & Transport Awards 2027, bringing over 30 years of academic leadership, industry engagement, and international competition expertise to oversee the evaluation of Ireland's most established logistics and transport recognition programme.

Allen leads Logistics, Supply Chain and Project Management in the School of Business Technology, Retail, and Supply Chain at TU Dublin, having previously served as Head of Department of Transport Engineering at Dublin Institute of Technology.

His career has been defined by deep links with key industry stakeholders across Ireland's transport and logistics sector, and the development of strategic initiatives that bridge academic education and industry practice.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a former Chair of CILT Ireland's Education Committee, he brings professional credibility and sector authority to the coordinator role that reflects the standards the Irish Logistics and Transport Awards has maintained since its launch in 2010.

His international profile in skills development and logistics competition sets him apart further. Allen served as WorldSkills Ireland's Chief Examiner for the Logistics National Skills Competition, represented Ireland as Expert at WorldSkills Kazan 2019, acted as Chief Expert for the Freight Forwarding Competition at WorldSkills Salzburg 2022, and was appointed Skills Competition Manager for the Logistics and Freight Forwarding Competition at WorldSkills Lyon 2024.

That sustained involvement in international skills competitions reflects a commitment to raising standards in supply chain management and logistics education that operates at a genuinely global level.

A published researcher across logistics, supply chain management, and the automotive industry, Allen is currently a registered DBA candidate with Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, underscoring a commitment to academic rigour that continues alongside his professional and industry leadership responsibilities.

As Judging Coordinator, Allen will oversee an independent panel evaluating entries across 33 categories spanning the full breadth of Ireland's logistics and transport sector. The panel includes Seamus Kavanagh of the Irish International Freight Association, Maurice Brady of TU Dublin, Michael O'Callaghan of IPICS, and Philip Tracey of Ace Express Freight.

The awards gala will take place on 4 March 2027 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry. Entries close on 16 October 2026.
