Netherlands-based logistics provider Bleckmann has expanded its UK operations with the opening of a new distribution centre in Lutterworth, increasing its total footprint in the country to 420,000 square metres, according to a report in Parcel and Postal Technology International.
The 70,786-square-metre facility in the Midlands logistics 'golden triangle' is scheduled to be fully operational by July 2026. It is one of the largest sites in the company's UK network and will enable faster delivery times and improved service levels for clients, particularly in the fashion and lifestyle sectors.
The new multiclient facility will handle a range of product categories including apparel, beauty, haircare, sports goods and accessories. The company stated the site is designed to support flexible and scalable logistics operations tailored to different client needs.
Cluster Director for Bleckmann in the UK Tony Brito stated: "More than a service provider, our clients see us as a catalyst for the expansion of their UK operations. From customs management to returns, we work to remove obstacles to growth."
The expansion reflects growing demand for specialised logistics services in the fashion and lifestyle market, where customer experience and fulfilment performance are key factors. Bleckmann's existing UK network includes additional facilities in Lutterworth as well as sites in Swindon, Bury St Edmunds, Burton-on-Trent, Crick and Corby.
Bleckmann highlighted the role of its UK network in supporting international brands, particularly those managing cross-border operations. The company stated splitting inventory between the UK and European hubs, such as those in the Benelux region, can help reduce complexity in areas such as returns management.
Brito added: "This new mega DC reflects our ambitions to further develop our specialized offering."
