BWG Foods emerged as one of the standout performers at the Irish Logistics & Transport Awards 2026, taking home three awards across sustainability, claiming the Green Supply Chain Excellence award, the Green Impact Award, and the Sustainable Team of the Year award, recognised earlier this year for a long-term, strategically driven sustainability programme that has delivered measurable environmental progress across every layer of its operations.
The Green Supply Chain Excellence award recognised a programme underpinned by strong governance and results that speak for themselves.
Judges stated: "The removal of 1.3 million kilometres and 100 vans annually, an 80 percent recycling rate, a 39 percent reduction in food waste, and the use of 100 percent renewable electricity across sites demonstrate real scale and impact. This work reflects consistent ambition, clear leadership, and meaningful delivery across the entire supply chain."
Meanwhile, the Green Impact Award brought focus to the broader organisational commitment behind BWG Foods' sustainability journey.
The panel stated: "Long-term investment, strong leadership, and a clear strategic vision have underpinned a wide range of initiatives delivering real progress across the business. The focus on staff development, supported by a dedicated training programme, empowered teams to actively contribute to the Green Impact journey, while strong external engagement reinforced credibility. With a programme years in the making and clear momentum behind it, this entrant demonstrated how ambition, people, and consistency combine to create lasting environmental impact."
On the other hand, the Sustainable Team of the Year recognition celebrated the people at the heart of that progress.
Judges added: "Measurable progress in decarbonisation, waste reduction, circular energy, and fleet innovation has delivered results that clearly set a national benchmark. Strong collaboration, strategic partnerships, and targeted employee training underpin this success, with electric and biogas fleets and circular economy initiatives turning ambition into action. Together, these efforts showcase a sustainability programme that is practical, scalable, and highly effective."
The triple recognition reflects the standard the Irish Logistics & Transport Awards set for sustainability entries, where the most distinguished submissions demonstrate that environmental progress in logistics is built on strategic consistency, measurable outcomes, and the genuine engagement of people at every level of the organisation.
The 2026 awards gala took place on 26 February 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry.
