Customs clearance provider Customs Support Group has acquired the Dundalk-based customs broker Beagans Ltd to strengthen its position as Ireland's leading customs clearance provider, according to reporting in Business Plus.
The transaction adds the family-run, AEO-certified business to CSG's operations, expanding the group's workforce to approximately 250 specialists whilst increasing cross-border support and operational capacity. Founded in 1953 and now in its third generation of family ownership, Beagans has developed expertise in customs clearance and excise duty management, with particular capabilities in the food and agriculture sector.
Chief Executive John Wegman stated that acquiring Beagans represents a significant milestone for expanding Irish operations and reinforcing the industries CSG serves. The deal consolidates the firm's position across the island of Ireland by adding scale and depth, increasing capacity to manage complex customs cases and broadening capabilities in areas including deep sea trade and excise goods.
Beagans has established trusted relationships with clients in Ireland and Northern Ireland, with extensive knowledge of the local market and particular expertise in handling exports and imports through Dublin Port. The company operates modern customs software for fast and accurate declarations.
CSG entered the Irish market in 2021 through the acquisition of Bell Transport & Logistics Ltd and has developed a reputation for efficient customs solutions in post-Brexit environments. The addition of Beagans' digital capabilities will enable CSG to expand and streamline operations across the region whilst leveraging its European network.
The transaction strengthens CSG's strategic presence across Ireland and the UK-Ireland trade corridor. Both CSG and Beagans will continue operating from their existing offices following completion. Grant Thornton and Kane Tuohy advised Beagans, whilst Key Capital, Wallace Corporate Counsel, Kiely & Co and Ploum & Matheson advised CSG.
