County Armagh-headquartered logistics and storage company Derry Group Ireland is now B Corp Certified, joining businesses working towards a more inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. B Corps are companies verified as meeting B Lab standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Derry Group Ireland's core subsidiary, Derry Refrigerated Transport, reported sales of £16 million and pre-tax profit of £1.13 million in its most recent published accounts, up 18 percent on the prior year. Founded in 1999 and led by Patrick Derry, the company now employs over 300 people across depots in Armagh, Dublin and Cork.
The milestone, Derry Group confirmed, comes at a crucial time for the agri-food sector across Ireland, as producers face mounting pressure under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and stringent retail compliance mandates. It also marks a significant moment for Derry Group, which is gearing up to launch a purpose-built facility in Dublin in December.
The structural driver is rising supply chain emissions reporting pressure on Irish agri-food producers, which is pushing logistics providers to formalise their own sustainability credentials to retain customer trust.
Derry Group's headquarters at Carn is a 100,000 sq ft carbon-neutral, solar-powered facility, and a significant share of its fleet runs on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, electric and gas power. The business provides live emissions reports to customers for every load moved across its network and has formally enrolled in the UK Climate Change Agreement scheme.
Patrick Derry, managing director at Derry Group Ireland, said, "Since the beginning, our success has been built on accountability and looking after the people and businesses we support. Becoming a B Corp reflects those same values on a larger scale. We know our customers are under immense pressure to report and reduce their supply chain emissions."
Fiona Derry, director of legal, compliance and HR at Derry Group Ireland, said, "This has come at a pivotal time for our business. Becoming a Certified B Corporation reassures our clients that as we scale up our all-island capacity, we continue to take responsibility for our environmental footprint."
For the sector, the certification illustrates how Irish logistics providers are converting sustainability compliance pressure into a formal market differentiator as retail and EU reporting requirements tighten.
