FedEx adds world’s first converted ATR 72-600 to modernise regional fleet

FedEx is set to fly the world’s first ATR 72-600 converted from passenger to freighter, marking a significant move to refresh its regional fleet. The aircraft, modified by Dublin-based ACIA Aero Leasing and Empire Aerospace, is due for delivery by December and may enter service before early 2026.

This signals FedEx’s first freighter conversion since 2016 and complements its broader shift toward more efficient, right-sized aircraft for feeder routes across Europe and North America.
