Dublin-founded palletised freight and logistics operator Harbour International Freight is celebrating ten years as a member of the Pall-Ex network, a period that has seen the business grow daily pallet volumes from 90 to more than 450 and increase network throughput by more than 12% per annum.

According to HGV Ireland, Harbour was originally established as a family-owned business in Dublin before opening its first UK depot at Trafford Park, Manchester in 1988, a site the company continues to operate from today. The business now employs 42 people and runs 18 owned vehicles, supported by more than 300 vehicles across its wider network and partner base.

Steve Swinburn, managing director of Harbour International Freight, said: "Our partnership with Pall-Ex has supported our ability to grow in a structured way while improving service levels and visibility for customers. The collaboration across the network has played a key role in helping us respond to changing customer expectations and scale our operations."

Barry Byers, chief operating officer for Pall-Ex Group, said: "Harbour International Freight has developed strongly within the network over the past decade. Their growth reflects a consistent focus on service delivery and a willingness to make full use of the tools and infrastructure available across the network."

Alongside volume growth, Harbour has expanded its use of Pall-Ex's Nexus platform and MyNexus tracking system, providing end-to-end consignment visibility for customers. The business has also drawn on marketing and analytics support from within the network to inform customer engagement and identify growth opportunities.

The milestone comes amid continued industry pressure for greater freight visibility and real-time supply chain transparency. Harbour currently offers palletised freight, Irish Sea groupage and third-party logistics warehousing services across the UK and Ireland, underpinning its position as a cross-border operator with roots on both sides of the Irish Sea.
