Public transport growth in Northern Ireland shows return on sustainability investment

Northern Ireland has logged an additional three million public transport journeys in 2024/25—proof that targeted investment in sustainable infrastructure delivers. With nearly 81.2 million total journeys now recorded, the region is seeing clear momentum in modal shift.

Recent developments like the Belfast Grand Central and York Street stations, alongside modernised ticketing with contactless payments, have fuelled this rise. Passenger satisfaction at the new Grand Central Station has hit 96%, reflecting strong public buy-in.
