Northern Ireland-based TCB Group has launched a consolidated sea freight service from New York to Belfast, providing Irish freight forwarders with an import option for goods from across the United States, according to Business Eye.
The less-than-container-load service is designed for palletised and lower-volume shipments, allowing multiple consignments from different importers to be combined into a single container as an alternative to full container loads.
New York's position as a major East Coast logistics hub offers strong inland connections, enabling Irish importers to access suppliers from across North America including Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta and other major cities.
Managing Director Darren Green stated: "We've consistently heard from Irish forwarders that their customers needed better options from the US. This service provides a reliable, cost-effective solution they can offer with confidence, helping strengthen their customer relationships while supporting Irish supply chains."
The first sailing from New York to Belfast is scheduled for mid-March, with departures initially operating on a fortnightly basis. Early engagement with the Irish forwarding sector has generated strong interest, with positive pricing feedback highlighting clear market demand.
The New York-Belfast route represents the latest addition to TCB Group's expanding service portfolio for Irish freight forwarders. The company has continued investing in shipping solutions aimed at improving control, reliability and competitiveness for logistics providers serving the Irish market.
Green added: "We are committed to supporting the forwarding sector through proactive service development. We're confident this new route will deliver strong results for our partners and by extension the businesses importing goods into Ireland."
